The Diary of a Land Girl, 1939-1945, 2002

1 of 50 special copies in half-leather.

When Gwenda Morgan died in 1995, we found she had kept a diary of the years she had worked as a Land Girl in and around Petworth, where she spent all her life. It is poignant record of determination to carry on whatever the weather or wartime deprivations. We already had nearly all Gwenda’s wood-engravings of life in and around Petworth, some inspired by the farms on which she had  worked, and this proved the ideal opportunity to combine the two.

This is one of the 50 copies half-bound in leather, with a separate set of proofs [this copy comes with 2 additional engravings].
